A ÚLTIMA CANÇÃO DE BILBO: UMA VIAGEM PELO VERBAL E NÃO-VERBAL NA TERRA MÉDIA
Este trabalho tem como tema a
relação da linguagem verbal e não-verbal a partir
do livro A Última Canção de Bilbo, de Tolkien,
que narra em forma de poema a última jornada
do personagem principal de O Hobbit em busca
das Terras Imortais. O objetivo desse estudo é
analisar como as ilustrações do livro contribuem
para um entendimento completo do poema,
além da dependência da linguagem não-verbal
e da verbal para a compreensão do poema. Os
referencias teóricos dessa pesquisa baseiamse
nos estudos sobre literatura fantástica
de Todorov (1975); na constituição de signo
linguístico de Saussure (2003); Souza (1999)
no que se refere aos elementos construtivos da
poesia e em Vásquez (2012), sobre experiência
estética da leitura. O estudo buscou concluir
que essa interdependência das linguagens é
importante quando se pensa no livro ilustrado,
além de levar o leitor-fã de Tolkien de volta à
Terra-Média.

Abstract:
This work has as its theme the
relation of verbal and non-verbal language
from Tolkien’s book The Last Song of Bilbo,
which narrates as a poem the last journey of
the main character of The Hobbit in search of
the Immortal Lands. The purpose of this study
is to analyze how the illustrations in the book
contribute to a complete understanding of the
poem, as well as the dependence on nonverbal
and verbal language for the understanding of
the poem. The theoretical references of this
research are based on studies on Todorov’s
fantastic literature (1975); in the constitution of
linguistic sign of Saussure (2003); Souza (1999)
regarding the constructive elements of poetry and
in Vásquez (2012) on the aesthetic experience
of reading. The study sought to conclude that
this interdependence of languages is important
when thinking of the illustrated book, in addition
to taking Tolkien’s fan-reader back to Middleearth.
