  • Abstract:

The aim of this study was to observe the occurrence of galling insects in ecotone area Cerrado-Pantanal area during the dry and rainy seasons. The study was developed in the Lagoa Comprida Municipal Natural Park, Aquidauana / MS. Sampling occurs from August to October (dry) and November to February (rainy). Galls were observed in the plant species Duguetia furfuracea (Annonacea), Eugenia pitanga (Myrtaceae) and Tabebuia chrysothrycha (Bignoniaceae). D. furfuracea shrub shows a larger number of galls in the adaxial region of the leaf, green color, globoid shape, without pubescence. Their locules ranged from two to seven chambers and one to 14 exit holes. In this species was found 52 insects distributed among the orders Hymenoptera, Diptera and Hemiptera, the most abundant belonging to the family Cynipidae. T. chrysothricha occurs in more than one abaxial, cone-shaped region, in green and in the presence of pubescences. His glasses were from a camera inside and through an exit hole. It presented 33 insects distributed among the orders of Hymenoptera and Hemiptera, being the most abundant belonging to the family Pteromalidae. E. pitanga shrub presented only galls in the adaxial region of the leaf and red in color. His glasses concealed a camera inside and through an exit hole. In this case, 10 larval insects belonging to the order Diptera were observed. Through this study, you can see that the number of galls was higher during the rainy season. For each plant species, there was a single gall morphology, with variations in insect species, which contributes to the possible occurrence of hyperparasitoids among galling insects found.
