  • Abstract:

In-person activities in educational institutions have been and continue to suffer a strong impact with social isolation caused by Sars-CoV-2 pandemic. In this context, this study presents an analysis of the perception of higher education students about emergency remote education in the state of Pará, Brazil. The online platform "Google forms" was used to apply a questionnaire to students from different courses of public and private institutions. A total of 106 students (63% female and 37% male) were interviewed, most of them studied at public institutions (78.3%). About 15.1% considered their internet with bad connection, and 34.9% of them have only their mobile phone to attend the remote classes. Students of both sexes presented high perception of the effective role of teachers in emergency remote education as well as for the difficulties encountered. This study shows that students know the commitment of teachers to ensure the quality teaching and learning, considering all the difficulties to access and adapt to the new technological tools. Therefore, it was evident that remote education is not an entirely inclusive system and requires public and private initiatives to improve educational conditions in the period of the greatest health crisis ever faced by Brazil.
