  • Abstract:

The present paper deals with cinema therapy as a therapeutic resource in psychotherapy sessions with children and adolescents. The general objective of this work is to use movies as a tool to perform psychotherapy. The specific objectives of the work are to identify the disorders covered in the watched movies and to identify movies for the different psychological disorders presented by the patients. The work consists of a literature review and the methodology has a qualitative nature. To find studies that deal with the subject addressed, a search was conducted on academic platforms such as Scielo and Lilacs with the following descriptors terms: cognitive behavioral therapy, psychotherapy and cinema therapy. Selected articles were used as well as authors of Psychology, such as Aaron Beck who writes about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is the most appropriate approach to develop the theme. We can conclude that the proposed objectives were found. Several movies were watched which allowed the identification of disorders and difficulties. It is possible to indicate the movie to the patient or watch it in the office together with him or her, in this case one can watch selected scenes from the movie that deal with the problem brought by the patient. Disorders and difficulties were identified in the characters of the movies and it was possible to identify movies for some psychological disorders and difficulties presented by the patients. Thus, it is possible to bring a contribution to future psychologists and also to those who are already working.
