A CULTURA DA PITAIA VERMELHA E DENSIDADES DE PLANTIO: UMA REVISÃO
A pitaia pertence à família das cactáceas e está entre as frutíferas exóticas que vêm se destacando no mercado brasileiro. Se trata de uma cultura relativamente recente e carece de informações para aperfeiçoamento do sistema de cultivo. Assim, com a presente revisão objetiva-se fazer um apanhado sobre a cultura da pitaia, desde a visão geral do mercado nacional de fruticultura e a importância das frutas exóticas nesse contexto, até os aspectos gerais da cultura da pitaia, incluindo a descrição do gênero Hylocereus, com suas 15 espécies, dentre as quais destacam-se Hylocereus undatus, Hylocereus megalanthus, Hylocereus setaceus, Hylocereus polyrhizus e Hylocereus costaricensis e o metabolismo ácido das crassuláceas (CAM) que é uma das vertentes mais relevantes para o estudo da referida cultura. A revisão aborda também a densidade de plantio, que do ponto de vista do pacote tecnológico para a produção comercial da cultura é um dos itens imprescindíveis para implantação e condução em campo.

Abstract:
The pitaia belongs to the cactus family and is among the exotic fruits that have been standing out in the Brazilian market. It is a relatively recent crop and lacks information to improve the cultivation system. Thus, this review aims to provide an overview of the culture of pitaia, from the general view of the national fruit market and the importance of exotic fruits in this context, to the general aspects of the culture of pitaia, including the description of the genus Hylocereus, with its 15 species, among which stand out Hylocereus undatus, Hylocereus megalanthus, Hylocereus setaceus, Hylocereus polyrhizus and Hylocereus costaricensis and the acid metabolism of crassulaceae (CAM), which is one of the most relevant aspects for the study of that culture. The review also addresses the planting density, which from the point of view of the technological package for the commercial production of the crop is one of the essential items for implantation and conduction in the field.
