CORRELAÇÃO TAXA DE PRENHEZ EM VACAS NELORE (Bos taurus indicus) COM BAIXO ESCORE DE CONDIÇÃO CORPORAL SUBMETIDAS A IATF

  • Abstract:

Beef cattle raising is an important activity that drives the economy of Brazil, and breeding is an important specialty to ensure good zootechnical and productive results in a property, thus generating greater profits to the producer. However, some factors negatively affect production, one of them being the Body Condition Score (BCS) of the animals. This paper aims to report a case of low conception rate in low BCS Nellore cows submitted to TAI, as well as to evaluate the low BCS and conception rate for the correlation between these two indices. The animals entered Negative Energy Balance (NEB) due to stress factors and environmental adaptation. Approximately sixty days after calving, the breeding season began, starting the first TAI protocol in these sixty-seven females, but the body condition of the flock was below ideal. Thirty days after TAI, a pregnancy diagnosis was made, with only 20.89% of pregnancy. A second TAI was performed and the results remained low with only 24.72% pregnancy. An intensified feed management of energy protein concentrate was instituted to give greater weight to the animals. Sixty days after the beginning of this supplementation and the observation of weight gain, the third TAI was obtained, where 45% of pregnancy was obtained. It can be concluded that the nutritional condition, assessed through the Body Condition Score, negatively impacts the pregnancy rate. And highlight the BCS as an important tool to help the search for good reproductive results.
