MEFISTÓFELES: O MAL COMO NECESSIDADE EXISTENCIAL
O Diabo é, sem dúvida, uma das maiores mitologias existentes na cultura ocidental cristã. Na figuração arquetípica do Mal, o Diabo de Orígenes de Alexandria carrega a função de elevar a humanidade ao seu patamar divino, sendo o responsável pela ida dos indivíduos ao deus cristão. Tal função foi trazida à tona por Mefistófeles, em especial na obra Fausto: uma tragédia de Goethe. Contudo, a relação dialógica entre Fausto e Mefistófeles é o que move a existência de ambas as personagens em busca por um motivo existencial.

Abstract:
The Devil is undoubtedly one of the greatest mythologies in western christian culture. In the archetypal figuration of Evil, the Devil, as defined by Origen of Alexandria, carry the function of elevating humanity to its divine level, being responsible for the individuals' journey to the christian god. This function was brought to the fore by Mephistopheles, especially in the book Faust: a tragedy by Goethe. However, the dialogical relationship between Faust and Mephistopheles is what moves the existence of both characters in search of an existential reason.
