CHILD OF THE DARK: A PRESENÇA DA MULHER NEGRA NAS LITERATURAS TRADUZIDAS
A representatividade da literatura
de autoria feminina vem se consolidando
no cenário da literatura brasileira e, com o
passar dos anos, vem ampliando a gama das
representações literárias tradicionais. Contudo,
no cenário internacional, poucas vozes
femininas ainda são reconhecidas via tradução
e o número de obras traduzidas para a língua
inglesa ainda é muito inferior em relação ao
restante da literatura produzida. Ainda que as
vozes femininas estejam ganhando visibilidade
no cenário da literatura internacional por
meio de textos traduzidos para língua inglesa
observa-se que o espaço reservado à escrita
gênero é muito inferior ao restante do espaço
reservado à veiculação de textos produzidos por
escritores homens. As traduções desses textos
contribuem para os estudos da tradução, bem
como para a observação de como as traduções
desempenham um papel muito importante no
contato entre culturas distintas. O romance
Child of the dark (1962) possibilita a reflexão
sobre a representação da escrita feminina
negra brasileira dentro e fora do país bem como
a observação de um processo tradutório que
vai além das margens do texto escrito

Abstract:
The literature produced by women
is being consolidated in the Brazilian literature
scenario and is increasing the traditional literary
representations. However, on the international
scenario, few women’s voices are still recognized
via translation and the number of texts translated
into English is still much lower than the rest of
the literature produced. Although the female
voices are gaining visibility in the international
literature scenario through texts translated into
English language, it is observed that the space
reserved for a genre production is much lower
than the rest of the space reserved for the
publication of texts produced by male writers.
The translation of these texts contributes to the
study of translation as well as to the observation
of how translations play a very important role in
the contact between different cultures. The novel
Child of the Dark (1962) makes possible the
reflection on the representation of the Brazilian
black feminine writing inside and outside the country as well as the observation of a translation process that goes beyond the
margins of the written text.
