EDUCAÇÃO E NEOLIBERALISMO: REFLEXÕES A PARTIR DA TEORIA DA SÍNDROME COMPORTAMENTALISTA DE ALBERTO GUERREIRO RAMOS

Vivemos, o avanço do Neoliberalismo no Brasil.

  • Abstract:

We live, the advance of Neoliberalism in Brazil. Within this framework, which includes political, cultural, economic and social reformulations, the changes in the educational field are the most evident. These reformulations follow the logic of adapting education to the principles of the development of capitalism in times of crisis, like the one we have been experiencing for a decade. In this context of neoliberal adjustments we see popular concepts emerging as Entrepreneurship, School without a Party, Skills and Competences; and others that are less popular, but which are at the base of the logic of framing education to market dictates, such as instrumental rationality, productivism, formalism, perspective, operationalism, individualism. The purpose of this paper is to criticize the neoliberal adjustment process of Brazilian education today, based on the Theory of Behavioral Syndrome of the Brazilian sociologist Alberto Guerreiro Ramos (1915-1982). This theory is part of the critique of modernity that became a common debate in the second half of the 20th century, undertaken by authors concerned with the construction of societal alternatives. One of the central theoretical lines of the debate proposed by this theory, refers to the concept of rationality, where Ramos, as a sociologist of the second half of the 20th century, proposes a critique of modernity from the perspective of its social rationality, condensed in his Syndrome Theory Behaviorist. It tries to understand the fundamentals and basic dimensions of modern reason and argues that we live immersed in a reason centered on the market, which promotes behaviors at the expense of (creative) action and which reduces human rational capacity to its instrumental and market aspects. Based on this, and taking into account the recent reformist trends in education in Brazil, we will seek to question this process, trying to understand to what extent this educational model subordinated to the technical-instrumental rationality of the market goes against human emancipation, functioning as a training behavioralist suitable for the current market.
