O objetivo do artigo é, por um lado,

apontar interações entre saúde e direitos

humanos, no sentido de que tanto as violações

aos direitos humanos causam impactos

negativos sobre a saúde, quanto as políticas,

programas e práticas de saúde podem causar –

e não raramente causam – impactos negativos,

ou violações aos direitos humanos; mas que

ambos os campos também se influenciam

positivamente. Por outro lado, busca-se indicar

que tanto a saúde quanto os direitos humanos

podem e devem ser colocados em uma

perspectiva mais ampla, com o objetivo comum

de promover o bem-estar do ser humano, caso

em que seriam – saúde e direitos humanos –

campos complementares, e não antagônicos.

Por fim, destaca-se a necessidade, ou pelo

menos a conveniência de que sejam adotadas

abordagens de direitos humanos, no campo de

promoção e proteção da saúde, e de saúde,

no campo de promoção e proteção dos direitos

humanos, com ganhos para ambos os lados.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to

point out interactions between health and human

rights, in the sense that both human rights

violations cause negative impacts on health,

and health policies, programs and practices can

cause - and not infrequently cause - negative

impacts, or violations of human rights; but that

both fields also have a positive influence. On the

other hand, it seeks to indicate that both health

and human rights can and should be placed in

a broader perspective, with the common goal of

promoting the well-being of the human being, in

which case they would be - health and human

rights - complementary, not antagonistic,

fields. Finally, it is necessary to emphasize the

need, or at least the convenience, of adopting

human rights approaches in the field of health

promotion and protection, and health, in the field

of promotion and protection of human rights,

with gains for both the sides.
